From one court
to a global family.
AFI brings faith, friendship, wellbeing, and sport together across borders.
AFI began with a simple vision: unite Adventist friends around shared spiritual, social, and health interests.
What started with six volleyball teams in England grew into an international gathering. Cricket joined the programme in 2023, carrying that same spirit of connection into a new sporting chapter.

2016–2023
The AFI timeline
The first gathering
Six teams met in Stoke-on-Trent for AFI's first annual volleyball tournament.
Going international
The Irish Lions joined 12 teams in London, turning the event into an international tournament.
A full weekend
Worship, sport, and fellowship came together as teams arrived from the USA, Scotland, France, and Ireland.
An annual highlight
Sabbath services and gospel concerts became central, welcoming families from Britain and beyond.
The pause
The pandemic cancelled the tournament, but AFI's community spirit and plans for revival endured.
The return
The fifth tournament revived the weekend with worship, music, social connection, and new international teams.
Maryland celebration
AFI's first quinquennial celebration brought 16 teams to Maryland for worship, sport, and new friendships.
Cricket joins AFI
The London weekend opened with a cricket tournament as AFI launched its website and expanded its reach.
